Kalahandi, Orissa, Feb 11, 2008 : Farmers of Orissa's Kalahandi district, where drought and famine has been a recurring phenomenon, are reaping rich benefits by taking up banana cultivation. Three years ago, Kalahandi was branded an eternal drought-prone region and the farmers living here led a miserable life. But now the scenario is fast changing with prosperity knocking at the doors of impoverished farmers.
