North India celebrates Lohri with zeal


New Delhi, 13 Jan, 2008 : Dancing and singing, marked the beginning of harvest festival Lohri. For farmers in northern India, Lohri marks the beginning of a new financial year because it is on this day that they settle the division of products of the land between themselves and the tillers. All sections of the society celebrate this harvesting season with fervour, cutting across the barriers of caste and class.
