India- Born Jindal, American Governor


Malerkotla, Oct 21 2007 : Jubilation swept a tiny town of Malerkotla in Punjab today as relatives of Bobby Jindal, India-born US Republican Representative Bobby Jindal was elected governor of Louisiana to become the first Indian-American to lead a U.S. state. With most of the precincts counted, 36-year-old Jindal had 54 percent of the vote to win without a runoff in Louisiana's electoral system, where candidates of all parties run in a single primary.
