Sports industry fears FDI
Jalandhar, Oct. 11 2007 : Jalandhar city in Punjab has been a manufacturing hub of sports goods. The city accounts for 65 percent of the total Indian exports of sports goods. The sport goods manufacturers feel that the exports of sports goods worth over 100 million dollars annually could be hit if Foreign Direct Investment is allowed in multi-brand retailing. Presently, multiple-brand retailers are limited to cash-and-carry or franchise and license operations.
