Watch: Kolu doll festival reflects cultures across globe
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Oct 10 (ANI): During the ongoing festive season of Navratri, students of a private college displayed a number of Kolu dolls, which depict cultural heritage of various nations across the globe. The event, which was held in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore city, was a major attraction for the visitors. The beautiful figurines called Kolu, represent deities, nature and people of various communities. The word 'Kolu' is derived from Tamil word Bommai Kolu that means 'divine presence.' Kolu also has an ancient significance according to which the Kolu dolls are made to raise demand for clay. Besides, reflecting cultural identities of a region, Kolu offers a time to the masses to socialise. The festival is being cherished since generations.
