Telangana MP Kavitha celebrates Bathukamma festival
San Francisco, U.S., Oct 03 (ANI): With her stand of taking the festival of Bathukamma to a global level, Member of Parliament (MP) from Telangana and founder of Telangana Jagruthi K. Kavitha celebrated the floral festival in United States’ San Francisco on Sunday. Kavitha attended the festivities arranged by the Telangana Cultural Association (TCA) along with Telangana Jagruthi. The organisers invited people in large numbers to attend the ceremonies that were held to mark Bathukamma and Dusshera festivals. Jammi Pooja, Gauri Pooja and several cultural programmes were also held. Earlier, Kavitha celebrated the festival of Telangana’s cultural identity in London and Dubai. Celebrated by Telugu women, Bathukamma is a colourful festival of flowers. During the festival which falls before the onset of winters, the women folk dress up in their best, adorn ornaments, carry a flowers-made pattern called 'Bathukammalu', and immerse it into a water body. This year, the spirit of this festival is being cherished from October 1st to 10th.
