Preserve locally grown rice grains is message at Tourism Festival
Siliguri, Oct 02 (ANI): A three-day long World Tourism Day festival which was organized by Association of Conservation of Tourism (ACT) concluded today with a view to save locally grown types of rice that have drastically fallen in production due to rise of hybrid rice companies in Siliguri. More than 62 varieties of rice like Kabiraj, Bahurupi, Kerela Sundory, Talmugur, Kalo Nuniya, Deradun Godeshwari, Radha tilak, Emo, Bora, Dhaan, Bhog Chawal, Tora Bau Dhaan, Biyoi Khaali Dhaan from North East, North Bengal and South Bengal were displayed in the festival. Along with this, the organizers also succeeded to organize awareness programme where the local farmers are directly discussing with the experts, so that they can know how to save the folk rice and local verities of agriculture. As a part of this festival, regional food, yak dance, sun-moon-earth dance, was also present.
