Pakistani journalist barred from leaving country
New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): Pakistani journalist Cyril Almeida, who created a furore with his October 6 report in the national daily Dawn on the "confrontation" between its civilian and Army leaderships over Pakistan-based terror groups striking in India and Afghanistan, has been barred from leaving the country. The journalist took to Twitter saying, I am told and have been informed and have been shown evidence that I am on the Exit Control List. Was a long-planned trip, for at least several mths now. There are certain things that I will never, ever forgive.I feel sad tonight. This is my life, my country. What went wrong. Puzzled, saddened. Had no intention of going anywhere; this is my home. Pakistan. Condemning the step, Kashmiri journalist Iftikar Gilani said the step is revocation of a person's fundamental right. He added that everybody who raises its voice against the government is consider him a traitor. Meanwhile, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said the action against a journalist proves that Pakistan is afraid of the terrorism existing in the state will come out.
