India to carve a niche in international flower market
New Delhi, Aug. 25: Indian floriculture sector is flourishing its miniscule share in the world trade. Exports make over a half percent of the $80 bn international flower trade. India is home to over 2000 varieties of flowers like roses, carnations, chrysanthemums and orchids. Exports are very crucial to the flower industry as the domestic market is seeing a major growth in the export of flowers. Japan has emerged as the biggest market for Indian flowers.
